MBFWMadrid asserts itself as the fashion capital of Hispanic America and takes another step toward internationalisation: Ahead of its next edition, to be held from September 14-19, it has formed a partnership with the Latin American Fashion Awards platform, and the Colombian brand Agua by Agua Bendita will headline the opening fashion show.

The Latin American Fashion Awards will join the runway as a special guest for the September event, where the Spring/Summer 2027 collections will be presented. “Today, Latin American fashion occupies a central place in the global fashion conversation, and our designers are redefining the industry’s narrative. Collaborating with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid and showcasing a brand like Agua by Agua Bendita at such a pivotal moment represents exactly the kind of bridges we must continue to build together,” say Silvia Argüello and Constanza Cavalli Etro, founders of the platform, which seeks to raise the profile of and promote Latin American talent on a global scale.
Agua by Agua Bendita will be the third Colombian brand to open the Madrid runway; in the last two editions, two other Colombian brands- Silvia Tcherassi and Johanna Ortiz- have done the same. Renowned for its visual language and its celebration of Latin American craftsmanship, the brand has established itself as one of the Colombian firms with the greatest international reach.
“For us, opening the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid schedule at this moment is a particularly significant milestone. It is an opportunity to bring our identity- deeply rooted in craftsmanship- to a leading international stage. Being part of this platform reinforces our commitment to building cultural bridges and showcasing our region’s creative richness to a new audience,” the brand states.
MBFWMadrid will also honour Agua by Agua Bendita with the International Designer Award. The Madrid fashion show describes this partnership as follows: “The collaboration with the Latin American Fashion Awards and Agua by Agua Bendita not only boosts the visibility of Latin American designers but also helps cement Madrid’s status as the capital of Latin American fashion.”
