Vijay lauds his ladylove Rashmika: ‘At peak of her career…’

'The Girlfriend': Emotional Vijay Deverakonda lauds rumoured fiancée Rashmika Mandanna; says he's proud she chose 'film like this' at peak of her career

During the lively success meet for ‘The Girlfriend’, Vijay Deverakonda took a moment to recognize Rashmika Mandanna’s courageous decision to be part of the project. He conveyed how the film’s deep dive into women’s issues struck a personal chord, calling on others facing similar battles to stand up and speak out.

Vijay Deverakonda attended the success meet of the film ‘The Girlfriend’, starring his rumoured lady love Rashmika Mandanna as the lead. During the event, he expressed his opinions on relationships and also talked about the message the film wants to deliver.

‘The Girlfriend’ leaves Vijay emotional

According to CinemaExpress, at the success meet, Vijay said, “I watched ‘The Girlfriend’, and I was emotional throughout. I couldn’t stop my tears.”The actor added that the lead actress and the filmmaker have been sharing the latest developments with respect to the audience’s reaction to the movie. He said, “Both Rashmika and Rahul have been sending me updates about the audience reactions.”The actor shared that it’s “painful” that women in society are still facing such issues (which are shown in the movie). He urged everyone who is going through similar problems to come out in the open and talk about it. He said, “This film gives people that awareness. And if your partner still doesn’t listen, take your decision—do what’s right for you.”Deverakonda stated that the film scoring good numbers at the box office is a big achievement, despite it being a different movie. He added that more than the film earning well, it has “sparked thought and awareness, inspiring women to speak up.” The actor also added that many commercial blockbusters can’t create such an impact on society. He said, “The team should be proud. Rahul and the producers have achieved something remarkable.”

Vijay gushes about Rashmika’s performance

Talking about Rashmika, Vijay said that he has known her since their film ‘Geetha Govindam’. He added, “There are so many similarities between her and Bhooma (character played by Rashmika).” He went on to share, “At the peak of her career, she chose to do a film like this out of conviction, and that makes me proud.”The actor further shared that the world will understand “who she truly is” one day. He added, “Keeping your partner happy is everyone’s responsibility.”Directed by Rahul Ravindran, the film was released in theaters on November 7, 2025.
