‘Vilayath Buddha’: Prithviraj Sukumaran’s film gets a release date

'Vilayath Buddha' release date: Prithviraj Sukumaran’s film to clash with Mammootty’s 'Kalamkaval' week

Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran is all set to return to the big screen with ‘Vilayath Buddha’, his first solo release of 2025. The actor confirmed via his social media handle that the film will hit theatres on November 21, 2025. Interestingly just a week ahead of Mammootty’s much-awaited ‘Kalamkaval’, which releases on November 27. Directed by Jayan Nambiar, Vilayath Buddha is based on G.R. Indugopan’s acclaimed novel of the same name. The author himself has co-written the screenplay along with Rajesh Pinnadan.

An action drama with a promising cast

The story follows the intense relationship between Bhaskaran Master, played by Shammi Thilakan, and his former student Double Mohanan, portrayed by Prithviraj. For those who have read the novel, ‘Vilayath Buddha’ has so much intense moments to be unveiled on the big screens and the expectations are high.Priyamvada Krishnan stars as the female lead. The film’s technical team boasts some of the best in the industry — Jakes Bejoy composes the music, while Arvind Kashyap, celebrated for his work in Kantara, handles cinematography.

Prithviraj hints at villain role in ‘SSMB29’

While fans are excited about ‘Vilayath Buddha’, Prithviraj recently made headlines for a playful Twitter exchange with Mahesh Babu and S.S. Rajamouli over their upcoming film, tentatively titled ‘SSMB29’.When Mahesh teased Rajamouli about a delayed update, he brought Prithviraj into the conversation, hinting at his possible involvement. Prithviraj humorously replied, “Sir @ssrajamouli, I’m running out of alibis for these Hyderabad ‘vacations.’ If I keep this up any longer, my family will start doubting me.”Rajamouli playfully responded, “@urstrulyMahesh … now you ruined everything.”Fans quickly speculated that Prithviraj might be playing the villain in the highly anticipated Mahesh Babu–Priyanka Chopra starrer. Meanwhile Prithviraj Sukumaran also has the most awaited upcoming actioner ‘Khalifa’ which is directed by Vysakh.
