‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ box office: Film crosses Rs 610 crore in India

'Kantara: Chapter 1' box office day 34: The Rishab Shetty starrer continues to make a mark despite OTT release after crossing Rs 610 crore

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ has been in the theatres for a month now and the film continues to remain steady despite newer releases. Not to mention, the film has already released on OTT and yet it has managed to make its presence feel in cinemas still despite releases like ‘Baahubali: The Epic’, ‘Thamma’, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’, ‘The Taj Story’. The film made around Rs 1 crore on fifth Monday, after a steady weekend, collecting Rs 1.85 crore on Friday, Rs 3.6 crore on Saturday, and Rs 3.65 crore on Sunday. Its total Week 4 collection reached Rs 37.6 crore, a drop of just over 52 percent from the previous week but still a strong performance for its fourth week. On fifth Tuesday, which is day 34, ‘Kantara’ made around Rs 1.15 crore which is just slightly less than the Tuesday numbers of movies which are in its second week or still first week. This means, the film is still managing to make some impact in theatres despite its OTT release. The total collection of ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ in India so far is Rs 612.95 crore according to Sacnilk.

Rishab Shetty Shares Intense BTS Of ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’, Fans Drop Hearts

Interestingly, the maximum occupancy of the film is still coming from Mumbai, followed by regions like NCR, Pune and Bengaluru. As the film has made a huge mark, becoming one of the highest grossing movies this year, it continues to garner a lot of love from the audience and many industry celebs. Recently, Kangana Ranaut wrote about the film, “What Kantara has shown is reality. Until I saw this movie, I wasn’t aware of South India, but believe me, everyone born in the Himalayas has felt and seen things beyond imagination. The Dev culture here is truly divine, and this movie beautifully shows the vastness of Hinduism and the deep connection people have with their local deities. Kudos to you @shetty_rishab sir for bringing such a marvellous project.”
