Madhuri’s show organisers react to backlash, reveal why she was late

Madhuri Dixit's Toronto show organisers reveal why she was late, after severe backlash on the internet, address claims of the show being misleading

Madhuri Dixit recently found herself at the centre of controversy after her live show ‘Dil Se… Madhuri’ in Toronto left several fans disappointed. The event took place on November 2 at Toronto’s Great Canadian Casino Resort. Videos from the event went viral and many people who went to watch the show, claimed the event was promoted as a concert but turned out to be more of an interactive talk session. To make matters worse, Madhuri was accused of arriving three hours late, leading to heavy criticism with netizens calling the show highly disorganised and ‘worst show ever’. After this backlash, the organisers of the show have now issued a statement clarifying their stance on the same. The organisers addressed the backlash with a statement. The company said its statement was in reply to the “misleading social media commentary.” It explained, “The event commenced on time with a high-energy opening act featuring exceptional singers from Indian Idol, exactly as scheduled.”The statement also shared the reason for Madhuri arriving late. They said, “The show’s format, as shared with Madhuri Dixit’s management, included a Q&A session at 8:30 PM followed by Madhuri’s 60-minute performance segment. However, despite our production team’s readiness and communication throughout the evening, Madhuri Dixit’s own management team misinformed her about the call time, resulting in her late arrival around 10 PM. This delay was completely beyond the control of True Sound Live Ltd.” The company assured that it fulfilled everything that was promised, “every contractual and logistical responsibility — from staging, lighting, and sound to audience management — and maintained the event timeline as planned.” The statement further added that “certain backstage individuals, including Shreya Gupta, were preoccupied with personal video recordings instead of supporting the artist’s timely coordination, which further added to the confusion.”Urging people to view the event footage themselves, the organisers said, “Attached videos clearly show Madhuri Dixit’s on-stage presence and performance, and we invite the public to view the footage and judge objectively.” The statement was concluded with a thankyou to the audience for understanding.
