‘Thamma’ beats ‘Bala’ to become Ayushmann Khurrana’s third biggest grosser

Ayushmann Khurrana’s latest film, ‘Thamma’, has become his third-highest grosser, surpassing ‘Bala’ with a remarkable Rs 120.05 crore collection. Released on Diwali, the movie enjoyed a strong opening and a steady run, benefiting from a clear box office window. ‘Thamma’ also features Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, with Amar Kaushik as a producer.

Ayushmann Khurrana is on a roll with his latest film Thamma, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar is quickly climbing the charts of his biggest hits. Thamma which released on the occasion of Diwali has quickly moved up the charts to become the third biggest hit of Ayushmann’s career beating his 2019 blockbuster film Bala, directed by Amar Kaushik. In fact, Amar Kaushik also happens to be one of the producers of Thamma. Thamma in its extended 10 day first week had minted Rs 108.4 crore with Rs 24 crore coming from its first day itself which was the occasion of Diwali. On its second Friday the added Rs 3 crore to its kitty, with Saturday showing a jump of over 46 % to collect Rs 4.4 crore, though Sunday showed a small dip as the film earned Rs 4.25 crore, thereby taking the weekend total to Rs 11.65 crore and the overall collection of the film stood at Rs 120.05 crore.And with that the film went past the lifetime collection of Ayushmann and Amar’s last film Bala which had collected Rs 116.38 crore at the ticket window. Bala also featured Yami Gautam and Bhumi Pednekar in leading roles. The journey for Thamma which also starred Rashmika Mandanna, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Paresh Rawal is far from over, with no big Hindi release till 14th November-the film is going to enjoy a smooth run at the box office. Even Prabhas and SS Rajamouli’s Bahubali- The Epic hasn’t been able to make much dent in the Hindi circuit despite crossing Rs 20 crore mark over the weekend.Ayushmann’s next release is going to be Pati Pati Aur Woh 2, directed by Mudassar Aziz and stars Rakul Preet Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Wamiqa Gabbi. The film is slated to release on Holi next year. He has already started shooting for his next film which is with Sooraj Barjatya, Sharvari is paired opposite him.
