Dario Yazbek Bernal wraps for ‘White’; film explores Colombia peace

Mexican actor Dario Yazbek Bernal wraps up shoot of Vikrant Massey starrer 'White,' says 'India is more than Eat Pray Love'

Mexican star Dario Yazbek Bernal has wrapped up his time on the Indian set of ‘White,’ a compelling film featuring Vikrant Massey as the renowned spiritual figure Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. This cinematic exploration sheds light on Ravi Shankar’s pivotal contributions to Colombia’s peace initiatives, focusing on the essential act of listening and nurturing forgiveness.

Mexican actor Dario Yazbek Bernal has wrapped the India schedule of the upcoming film ‘White’, which stars Vikrant Massey as spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. The film explores Ravi Shankar’s involvement in Colombia’s peace process, centring on reconciliation and forgiveness.

Story about listening and forgiveness

Speaking to Mid-Day, Bernal described the film’s emotional core in plain words. “At its core, the film is driven by a sincere emotion. It simply says: this is what happened, and this is how forgiveness becomes possible,” he said. Forgiveness isn’t a reset. It’s the decision to keep engaging when walking away would be easier.

Vikrant Massey Openly Admits He Tried PR, Felt ‘Fake,’ and Quit

Bernal believes ‘White’ arrives when those ideas are urgently needed. “The film is saying something that we’ve forgotten how to do: listen,” he added, pointing to polarisation across societies worldwide. People talk, react, repeat. Listening takes effort and patience.Directed by Montoo Bassi, the project traces how dialogue and empathy played a role in Colombia’s peace efforts. Massey’s portrayal of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar anchors the narrative, while Bernal brings an international lens to a story built on cross-cultural exchange. Best known for ‘The House of Flowers’, Bernal sees ‘White’ as a meaningful step in his expanding international filmography.

Discovering India beyond stereotypes

The film was shot in Bengaluru through November and early December, gave Bernal nearly eight weeks in the country. He said the experience pushed past the postcard version many outsiders carry. “It’s not just Eat Pray Love! It’s complex, welcoming, overwhelming, and deeply fascinating,” he said.He also spoke warmly about working with Massey and the shared curiosity they brought to the set. “Actors share a universal language,” Bernal said, describing how performers from different cultures connect through the work. With its focus on real-world peace efforts and human connection, ‘White’ positions itself as a reflective global drama.
