'Pursuit of peace highly commendable': India's first reaction to Trump-Putin meeting; 'want to see early end to Ukraine conflict'

NEW DELHI: The ministry of external affairs on Saturday welcomed the summit between US President Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska to end the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war.In an official statement, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the “world wants to see an early end to the conflict.””India welcomes the Summit meeting in Alaska between US President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin of Russia. Their leadership in the pursuit of peace is highly commendable. India appreciates the progress made in the Summit,” Jaiswal said.”The way forward can only be through dialogue and diplomacy. The world wants to see an early end to the conflict in Ukraine,” he added.The Alaska meeting between Trump and Putin lasted for nearly three hours on Friday, followed by a brief joint press appearance. No deal was announced, and neither leader took questions.Trump described the discussions as “very productive” and said that “a considerable number of agreements” had been reached. However, he reiterated his familiar stance, stating: “There’s no deal until there’s a deal.
