The alleged encounter killing of Bharat Tiwari in Bihar has now reached the Supreme Court. A petition filed by advocate Vishal Tiwari seeks a CBI investigation into the incident and demands that an FIR be registered against the police personnel involved. The plea also calls for the probe to be conducted under the supervision of a retired Supreme Court judge. According to the petition, the incident raises serious questions about the legality of the police action and warrants an independent investigation. The petitioner has also reportedly sought scrutiny of similar encounter and “half-encounter” cases in different states. Meanwhile, the issue has triggered political reactions. Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi defended the police action, arguing that officers often face life-threatening situations during such operations. However, critics have questioned the circumstances surrounding the encounter and have demanded accountability and transparency. The case is now expected to move through the legal process, with attention focused on whether the Supreme Court agrees to hear the matter and orders further investigation.
