Veteran actor Sudhir Dalvi, who is loved for his portrayal of Sai Baba on screen, is currently fighting a serious health battle. The 86-year-old actor has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai, since October 8, 2025, where he is undergoing treatment for severe sepsis, a life-threatening infection that has left him in a critical state.According to reports, Dalvi’s medical expenses have already crossed Rs 10 lakh and may rise to Rs 15 lakh as his treatment continues. His family has expressed concern over the escalating costs and appealed for financial assistance from fans and well-wishers within the industry.

The news has sparked an outpouring of concern online, with many recalling how deeply Dalvi’s work as Sai Baba touched their lives. Among those who responded was Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, daughter of late actor Rishi Kapoor and sister of Ranbir Kapoor. She contributed to the actor’s medical fund and commented under a social media post, writing, “Done 🙏🏻 Wishing him a speedy recovery.”

Shutting down a troll with grace

However, one user questioned her public acknowledgment, commenting, “Why did u mention here if you have helped… footage chahiye?”Riddhima responded gracefully yet firmly, saying, “Everything in life is not about optics — helping someone in need and in whatever capacity you can is the biggest blessing.”

Sudhir Dalvi remains a treasured figure in Indian cinema and television. His portrayal of Sai Baba in the 1977 classic Shirdi Ke Saibaba made him a household name, while his role as Rishi Vashishtha in Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan (1987) further cemented his legacy. He also appeared in notable films such as Junoon (1978) and Chandni (1989).Dalvi’s last screen appearances were in Xcuse Me (2003) and Woh Huye Na Hamare (2006).
