Yalgar March Maharashtra: Thousands of farmers protest at Nagpur border demanding loan waiver in Maharashtra

Maharashtra is witnessing intense farmer unrest once again as thousands of farmers have taken to the streets under the leadership of Prahar Janshakti Party chief and MLA Bachchu Kadu. The massive “Yalgar March,” which began in Amravati, reached Nagpur but was stopped at the city’s border, where farmers are now staging a sit-in protest. Farmers arrived on tractors and bullock carts, blocking major roads and highways leading to Nagpur, causing massive traffic jams that have stranded vehicles for hours. Their main demands include a complete loan waiver, increase in MSP (Minimum Support Price) for various crops, and better compensation for crop losses. The protest has paralyzed traffic on major routes connecting Hyderabad, Jabalpur, and Raipur, severely impacting commuters and goods transporters. Despite the government’s earlier ₹31,264 crore relief package and direct cash assistance of ₹1,000 for affected farmers, protestors insist these measures are insufficient. So far, no talks have been initiated between the government and the protesting farmers, and the agitation shows no signs of ending soon.
