Man in full Nazi uniform assaults Georgia student outside college; video goes viral

A man wearing a full Nazi uniform assaulted a University of Georgia student outside a popular bar in downtown Athens, sparking widespread outrage after footage of the attack spread rapidly online. Witnesses said the suspect was denied entry to the venue because of his costume before tensions escalated. The victim, a 23-year-old student, suffered facial injuries after she attempted to confront him about the antisemitic attire.University officials condemned the incident as “heinous” and confirmed that the man has no affiliation with the school. Local police arrested the individual shortly after the altercation, and he is now facing multiple assault charges.

Confrontation outside college bar

The incident took place near an off-campus bar where the man had been turned away. Students who witnessed the scene said he appeared to be “showing off” his uniform, complete with a swastika armband. When confronted by a group of young women, the man allegedly swung a beer mug, striking one in the face and knocking her to the ground.Friends of the victim said they stepped in after noticing his behaviour and feared he was trying to provoke a reaction. One bystander captured the moment on video, which has since been widely shared on social media, prompting national attention. Police quickly responded to calls from the scene and apprehended the suspect a short distance away. He has been booked on charges including aggravated assault and simple battery. Authorities also confirmed he is not enrolled at the university nor connected to it in any capacity. The University of Georgia urged any distressed students to seek counselling services and reiterated its commitment to maintaining a safe environment, particularly amid a rise in antisemitic incidents across the country.

Outrage and viral backlash

Students and community members have demanded accountability, with many calling for stronger policies against the promotion of hate symbols in public spaces. The video has sparked intense discussion online about antisemitism, campus safety, and the potential for extremist symbolism to incite violence. As the suspect remains in custody, the investigation continues.
