Thamma becomes Ayushmann’s 7th biggest hit

Continuing from his success from Dream Girl 2, Ayushmann Khurrana is all set to dominate the big screen with his latest film Thamma- the new installment from Horror-Comedy Universe. The film also features Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui with cameo appearances by Varun Dhawan and Abhishek Banerjee. The film released on 21st October on the occasion of Diwali and in just 4 days the film has crossed Rs 60 crore mark, making it one of the fastest film starring Ayushmann to cross this figure.

The film opened to Rs 24 crore on Tuesday with day 2 hitting Rs 18.6 crore and day 3 at Rs 13 crore and on day 4 ( Friday) the film earned Rs 9.55 crore- taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 64.65 crore. And with that the film has become the 7th biggest hit of Ayushmann’s career surpassing the lifetime collection of Aanand L Rai backed film Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan which starred Jitendra Kumar opposite Ayushmann. While one would feel that the collections are dipping with each passing day but that is how usually Diwali release works- the films after a huge opening, dip a little but catch on over the weekends.

But going by the trend the film is expected to cross Rs 100 crore before it completes its extended first week and will also be the fastest film of Ayushmann to do so. Ayushmann is also set to be a strong pillar for the Horror-Comedy Universe as he would be next seen in Bhediya 2 where he would be clashing with Varun Dhawan and taking the universe ahead. But for now he is all set to start shooting for Sooraj Barjatiya’s next with Sharvari and he plays the new Prem. But his next release is going to be Pati Patni Aur Woh Do with Rakul Preet Singh, Sara Ali Khan and Wamiqa Gabbi.
