  • Day 3 (1st Thursday): Rs 13 crore
  • Day 4 (1st Friday): Rs 3.79 crore (early estimates)

Total: Rs 59.39 crore

‘Thamma’s story blends horror, humour and emotions

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, ‘Thamma’ tells the story of a journalist who, after meeting a mysterious woman, turns into a vampiric creature called Betal. What follows is his struggle to save humanity from the bloodlust of an ancient evil. The film features a talented ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Faisal Malik, Geeta Agrawal Sharma and Alexx O’Nell in important roles. It also includes special appearances by Nora Fatehi, Malaika Arora, Sathyaraj and Abhishek Banerjee, making it a star-studded affair.

‘Thamma’ review

The Times of India gave the film 3.5 out of 5 stars, praising it as a strong addition to the popular horror-comedy universe. The review mentioned, “The Stree universe continues to grow, with new lore, new beings, and an even bigger canvas, and director Aditya Sarpotdar’s latest outing stands as a worthy addition. The betaals, once guardians of humans, follow strict rules: never kill humans or drink their blood (deemed poisonous after witnessing people slaughter each other during Partition), never fall in love with them, and never cross into civilisation. But Tadaka’s defiance upends the fragile balance, unleashing the formidable Yakshashan.”

Ayushmann Khurrana expresses gratitude for Thamma’s success

Ayushmann Khurrana recently took to social media to share a heartfelt post about the film’s success. Sharing photos and videos with his family and fans, the actor wrote, “This family has seen a lot in the last few years. The success of Thamma is like a beautiful divine light. It is a result of collective prayers of the young and old present here. आयुष्मान भव:… that’s what my father used to say whenever I touched his feet. When Paresh ji said आयुष्मान भव: in the film, it felt like my father, my guardian angel, had blessed me.” He further thanked the audience for showering love on the film and said he was truly overwhelmed by its success.
