‘Thamma’ Vs ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ box office (LIVE)

'Thamma' Vs 'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' box office collection day 3 (LIVE): The Harshvardhan Rane film picks up despite lesser screens, while the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer inches closer to Rs 50 crore

Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Thamma’ which is a part of the horror comedy universe along with ‘Stree 2’, ‘Munjya’ among others, released in cinemas on Diwali. The film got mixed reviews but managed to get a decent opening day number. ‘Thamma’ clashed at the box office with Harshvardhan Rane’s ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’. There’s a huge difference in the number of screens in which both the movies released. As per trade, ‘Thamma’ released in three times more screens and got more shows. Keeping that in mind, the collections of ‘Ek Deewane…’ cannot be missed, despite the fact that the Ayushmann movie has an edge at the moment. On day 3, it may be expected to cross the Rs 50 crore mark.On day 1 which is Tuesday, ‘Thamma’ made around Rs 24 crore. On day 2, it saw a drop and minted Rs 18.6 crore. Meanwhile on the third day, which is Thursday, till afternoon, the movie has made around Rs 1.86 crore. The total collection of the movie so far, according to Sacnilk, is Rs 44.46 crore. Meanwhile, ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ made Rs 9 crore on day 1, which is on par with the collection of ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’ on opening day. On day 2, it collected Rs 7.75 crore and on the third day, till afternoon, the number was almost same as ‘Thamma’. It has made Rs 1.11 crore. The total collection of the Harshvardhan Rane, Sonam Bajwa starrer is now Rs 17. 86 crore. While the Diwali advantage has certainly boosted collections, the film’s momentum suggests that the success goes beyond just festive goodwill, especially since several releases in the past have stumbled despite the same holiday push. It clearly would have done even better if it got more screens, at least as much as ‘Thamma’. With word of mouth, it may possibly see a growth over the weekend. It could also be possible that this film may get more shows if the response is good. The upcoming weekend along with word of mouth, will play a crucial role for both these movies.
