Dhvani on Diwali parties – ‘None of us know how to play cards’

Dhvani Bhanushali says she doesn’t do Diwali parties; ‘none of us know how to play cards’ - Exclusive

Diwali means different things to different people, but one thing that everyone agrees on is that it is the festival that brings families and friends closer. On the festive occasion, as we sat down with singer Dhvani Bhanushali, she also told us that Diwali for her and her family is all about spending time together with loved ones. However, she doesn’t call it a party for the sole reason that no one in her family knows how to play cards.

Traditional Diwali at the Bhanushali house

“We do Lakshmi Poojan, the whole family comes together, and it’s a standard Indian household. We don’t do Diwali parties because none of us know how to play cards, but we come together, we talk a lot, eat a lot of good food, and spend time together,” said Dhvani.“So that’s how it is every year, and it’s great,” she added.

The core memory of Padwa

With Diwali comes a flood of nostalgia, memories that live in the heart rent-free. So, when we asked the ‘Vaaste’ singer about her core childhood Diwali memory, she shared, “It has to be this thing called Padwa that used to happen. So as a child, I would like to go to people’s houses and have food. So that’s a memory that’s stuck with me over the years.”And as we spoke further, what a celebration without food, and when it comes to this festival in particular, Dhvani said, “I start enjoying delicacies even before Diwali, like a week before, so it’s full cheat mode on, and I just feel like Diwali brings that air with itself that you have to indulge in all good food and really enjoy your life.” Last but not least, the singer revealed who she considers the light of her life, and the answer will warm your hearts for sure! “The light of my life has to be my parents, my sister, and my dog Liu, so my family is the light of my life,” she mentioned.
