Fans call out Aamir for forgetting working with younger heroines

'Fatima Sana Shaikh played his lover...': Fans call out Aamir Khan's 'selective memory' after he forgets working with younger heroines

Aamir Khan faced backlash on Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s talk show when questioned about Bollywood’s age gap double standard. He appeared unsure about romancing younger actresses, prompting Twinkle Khanna to list examples. Social media users criticized his response, highlighting instances like Fatima Sana Shaikh’s roles and the outdated practice of older heroes with younger actresses.

Aamir Khan faced backlash after appearing on Two Much, talk show by Kajol and Twinkle Khanna. On the premiere episode with Salman Khan, he was taken aback when asked about the usual age gap between male and female leads in Bollywood.

Kajol questions the age gap double standard

During the episode, Kajol asked Aamir, “When a hero romances a younger heroine, it’s called cinema magic. But when an older heroine romances a younger man, it’s called ‘bold.’ Why do you think that is?”

Aamir seems unsure

Aamir seemed unsure and replied, “Have I done any films with very young heroines? Have I? I don’t know.” His comment surprised many, including Twinkle Khanna, who quickly reminded him of his younger co-stars over the years.

Twinkle lists examples

Twinkle challenged Aamir by listing examples, “Kareena Kapoor, 45, in 3 Idiots, Talaash, and Laal Singh Chaddha.” Aamir smiled and said, “But didn’t Bebo and I look the same age?” The moment turned playful when Salman Khan joked, “You did not, I did,” referring to his films with Kareena like Bodyguard and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The superstar attempted to explain his point and said casting choices often depend on the story. Citing Dil Chahta Hai as an example, he pointed out that Akshaye Khanna’s character falls for an older woman played by Dimple Kapadia.

Social media reacts

As soon a clip of Aamir’s comments started doing the rounds on social media, comments poured in from all sides. While one user wrote, ‘Fatima Sana Shaikh played his daughter in Dangal and his love interest in Thugs of Hindostan — and they are 30 years apart’, another one added, ‘I love these 90s stars, but they must accept that the era of older heroes romancing 20-something actresses is over.’A user also commented, ‘This is how men dismiss the reality and escape accountability. They benefit from this system, which is why their feminism is always performative.’ Go to Source
