Filmmaker and producer Karan Johar recently opened up about the rising costs of entourages of the actors. In an interview, the director stated that he has no financial issues with the entourages but an ethical one. KJo stated that they have a set budget for such needs of the actor. Here’s what he shared in a recent interview.

Karan Johar’s take on the rising cost of actors’ entourages

In an interview with Komal Nahta, Karan Johar shared, “I have an ethical problem with entourages, not a financial one.” He stated that his production house has a set budget for all such needs of the actor. However, according to KJo, if any star wants anything beyond the set cost, “be it a personal trainer or specific dietary requirements, they should cover the cost themselves.”

Johar shared that he will be paying for the things that are essential for the movie. He said, “Like in a sports drama requiring a certain physique.”In the same interview, Karan shared why producers should be paying the costs of an actor who wants to maintain his appearance. As per the filmmaker, it’s part of their job as an artist. He said, “You’re an actor, it’s your job to look good. So why should the producer pay for your trainer or your healthy food?”The host asked Karan that while many producers are talking about the issue, are they taking any steps to address it? To which he said, “The producers are not united. We often discuss these matters, but no one follows through.”

But he acknowledged that they are capping the budget for hair and makeup for the actors. KJo shared that as a producer, he and his team upfrontly tell the actor what they can offer, and if the latter wants anything extra, “please handle it yourself.” He said, “And now, many actors are doing just that, which I respect.”At the end of the topic, the producer slammed the actors who make such demands even after getting paid a massive amount. He said, “Show some grace. It’s strange to me when these small issues become points of contention. I don’t understand why some actors travel with eight people in their entourage.”Meanwhile, Karan Johar is not the first filmmaker who has come out in open and talked about this issue. Earlier, Sanjay Gupta, Aamir Khan, Farah Khan, and more have addressed the topic. Go to Source
