For her intimate engagement in Mumbai, Anshula Kapoor wore a Bandhani ensemble by Arpita Mehta. However, the highlight of her look was her late mother’s Sankla kadas.

When fashion and sentiment intertwine, the result is magic – something Anshula Kapoor embodied beautifully at her engagement ceremony with longtime partner Rohan Thakkar. The intimate Mumbai celebration on October 2 was filled with warmth, laughter, and a quiet sense of legacy. Among the joyful family portraits featuring Arjun, Janhvi, and Khushi Kapoor, it was Anshula’s radiant, regal, and deeply personal look that stole every frame.

A Regal Purple Moment

For the traditional Gor Dhana ceremony, which marks the engagement in Gujarati culture, Anshula Kapoor chose a custom Arpita Mehta lehenga in a striking shade of purple. The ensemble, classic yet contemporary, reflected her personality – understated glamour with meaningful detail. The lehenga featured Arpita’s signature bandhani pattern reimagined with intricate tie-dye embroidery and delicate sequin work.

The blouse came with a soft V-neckline framed by pastel-hued threadwork and mirror detailing, while the voluminous skirt shimmered subtly with zardozi floral hand embroidery that caught the light with every movement. A matching bandhani dupatta, edged with mirror embellishments, added a festive yet timeless finish.

Styled with Meaning

Anshula’s styling leaned into emotional minimalism. Her accessories were chosen not just for sparkle but for sentiment — she wore her late mother Mona Shourie Kapoor’s sankla kadas, an heirloom gesture that added a layer of intimacy and remembrance to the celebration. The gesture struck a chord with many, a reminder that jewellery often carries more than beauty; it carries memory.

She completed the look with traditional chandbalis, a maang tika that glimmered softly against her centre-parted bun, and a few stacked bangles to complement the heirloom pieces. Her makeup stayed true to her soft, radiant aesthetic with defined lashes, blushed cheeks, and nude lips, creating an effortless glow.

The Guest List and Family Glow

Several close friends and family members gathered to celebrate the couple’s special day. Among those spotted outside Boney Kapoor’s residence was the proud father himself, dressed casually in a maroon t-shirt and grey pants, followed by Sunita Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor, and Rhea Kapoor. Mohit Marwah, Jaanvi Dhawan, Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, and designer duo Kunal Rawal with his wife, Arpita Mehta – who designed Anshula’s outfit – were also in attendance.

The evening radiated intimacy and warmth as Anshula and Rohan marked their engagement, surrounded by love, laughter, and those who matter most, making it a perfect prelude to their December wedding.
