A 63-year-old lawyer in Mumbai’s Borivali was allegedly blackmailed and assaulted by two men who filmed him in a compromising position during a massage session. The accused, who posed as masseurs, initially extorted Rs 50,000 and later demanded an additional Rs 6 lakh, police said on Friday.
According to investigators, the incident came to light when the complainant, a lawyer who had recently purchased a vacant flat in Borivali, searched for a massage service through an online Yellow Pages directory in July this year. He was first contacted by a man identifying himself as “Kanhaiya”, who later visited the flat on July 11 and offered a one-hour massage for Rs 7,000. The lawyer, satisfied with the service, raised no objections at the time.

However, on September 7, when the lawyer requested another session, Kanhaiya deputed an accomplice named “Munna”. As per the First Information Report (FIR), Munna asked the victim to disrobe and secretly recorded a video of him while giving the massage. Once the lawyer realised what was happening, he terminated the session, but matters quickly escalated.
The FIR stated that Munna, along with Kanhaiya, confronted the lawyer later, physically assaulted him, and threatened to upload the video on social media if he did not pay them. Fearing humiliation, the lawyer handed over Rs 50,000 in cash.
Within days, he began receiving WhatsApp messages and calls from the duo, demanding a further sum of Rs 6 lakh. They allegedly sent screenshots of the lawyer’s friends’ nd relatives’ Facebook profiles, warning that the video would be circulated online.
Unable to withstand the pressure, the lawyer lodged a complaint with the Borivali police. A special team, led by Assistant Inspectors Bapu Ghodke and Sagar Salunke under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone XI) Sandeep Jadhav, traced and arrested the two accused from Kherwadi and Andheri on September 21. They were identified as Sameer Ali (21) and Bhupendra Singh (25).
Both men have been booked under charges of assault, extortion, and criminal intimidation.
