Zubeen Garg Death: Assam Police’s Special Investigating Team (SIT) investigating singer Zubeen Garg’s death in Singapore has submitted his second autopsy report to his wife, Garima Garg, upon instructions from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Sarma on Friday said the government had handed over the report of the post-mortem examination done in Singapore to Garima on Thursday. “The report of the second post-mortem examination done at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital will be given to her tomorrow. It is up to Garima whether she makes the post-mortem reports public or not,” he said.

The Chief Minister also announced that a judicial panel would be formed to probe Zubeen’s death in Singapore, which will be headed by Justice Soumitra Saikia of the Gauhati High Court. He urged people to come forward with any information and videos that may be connected with the singer’s death.

Meanwhile, Garima Garg recorded her statement in front of the Chief Judicial Magistrate and submitted all relevant documents. “We need justice as soon as possible. That is my prayer to the judicial system. I want to know what exactly happened that we lost him. We will cooperate with the law,” she told reporters outside the court.

Earlier, Garima told CNN-News18 that Zubeen was unexpectedly taken for a picnic and swimming, despite being visibly exhausted from his previous tours. “Why was he not taken care of when his manager was there? We have lost our cultural icon,” she said.

Zubeen Garg, who was in Singapore for the 60th year of the India-Singapore Diplomatic Relations and to celebrate India ASEAN Year of Tourism, passed away on September 19. His autopsy report revealed that he died due to drowning while swimming off a Singapore island and not while scuba diving.

At least four people have been arrested in connection with Zubeen Garg’s death over suspicion of foul play. Assam police have arrested his manager, Siddharth Sharma, and festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, after they were nabbed in Delhi on Wednesday.

Assam CID is currently probing the case of Garg’s death after more than 60 FIRs have been lodged across the state against Mahanta, the chief organiser of the Northeast India Festival, where the singer had gone to perform, and almost 10 others.

Meanwhile, a court in Assam on Friday sent Garg’s band members Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta to 14 days of police remand in connection with Zubeen’s death. They were reportedly present on the yacht when the singer died.

Reports have also suggested that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Income Tax (I-T) Department are expected to join the Assam Police in probing alleged organised financial crimes and benami property holdings linked to Mahanta. Sources told PTI that officials from both central agencies have already visited the CID headquarters in Guwahati to examine the financial aspects of the ongoing investigation.
