Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned the killing of American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, describing it as a “disgusting atrocity” and evidence of a “deep split” in US society. At a foreign policy forum in Sochi, the Russian leader said, “This is a disgusting atrocity, especially since it was broadcast live. We all essentially saw it. It was truly disgusting, horrific. First and foremost, of course, I offer my condolences to Mr Kirk’s family and all his loved ones. We sympathise and empathise.”
He added, “What happened is a sign of a deep rift in society. In the United States, I don’t think there’s any need to escalate the situation externally because the country’s political leadership is trying to restore order domestically.”

Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot dead during a campus event at Utah Valley University earlier this month. Prosecutors charged 22-year-old Tyler James Robinson with aggravated murder and other offenses and plan to seek the death penalty.
US President Donald Trump, who counted Charlie Kirk among his closest allies, called the killing a tragedy and described the Turning Point USA founder as a man of “deep faith” and a model “for truth and freedom.”
What Charlie Kirk Said On Russia And Putin
Charlie Kirk often spoke about Russia in ways that resonated with some of Vladimir Putin’s positions. He opposed large-scale US military aid to Ukraine, at times calling the conflict a “border dispute.” He argued that Crimea should be considered part of Russia and, in 2024, issued a message to the Russian people apologizing for Washington’s push toward confrontation while saying few Americans wanted war.
At the same time, he was careful to draw a distinction between ordinary Russians and Moscow’s leadership, making it clear that he did not “like the Russian Federation or Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.”
