Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as it celebrated the 100th year of its foundation, calling it the “world’s largest voluntary organization” and praising its legacy of sacrifice, discipline, and national service.

In a post on X, Shah paid tribute to the organization’s century-long journey, its role in shaping generations of nation-builders, and its service across diverse regions and communities in India.

“Heartfelt congratulations on the centenary year of the world’s largest voluntary organization, ‘Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’. In this grand journey of the Sangh Centenary, I bow to all the dedicated workers of @RSSorg who have devoted their all for the service, security, and empathy towards Mother India,” Shah tweeted.

The Union Home Minister underlined the selfless contributions of swayamsevaks and pracharaks, who, according to him, gave up personal comforts to dedicate their lives to serving the nation.

“Renouncing all comforts and luxuries to dedicate one’s entire life to the service of the nation as a swayamsevak and pracharak is not easy. Over 100 years, countless swayamsevaks and pracharaks of the Sangh have demonstrated this through sacrifice and dedication,” he further wrote.

Recalling the beginning of the RSS under Keshav Baliram Hedgewar in Nagpur on Vijayadashami in 1925, Shah noted how a small group of committed individuals has grown into a global organization through its strong focus on national service and unity.

“Under the revered leadership of Hedgewar Ji, the Sangh, which began in Nagpur on the day of Vijayadashami in 1925 with a few people, has today become the world’s largest social organization through dedication to the individual and the nation, and organizational skills. I am proud to be a swayamsevak myself,” he stated.
