Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati was apprehended from Agra in the early hours of Sunday.
The Delhi Police recovered fake photographs and incriminating material from self-styled godman ‘Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati’, also known as Parthasarathy from Odisha and popularly referred to as ‘Delhi Baba’, who has been accused of sexually harassing at least 17 women at an ashram in the capital’s Vasant Kunj area.
Three digitally altered photographs were seized from the accused’s room in the ashram, showing him posing alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, former US President Barack Obama and a British politician, NDTV reported. Investigators believe the photos were used to bolster his false claims of influence and stature and the police also found business cards identifying him as a “permanent ambassador” to the United Nations Economic and Social Council and a “special envoy” for BRICS, as well as assets worth ₹8 crore, which have been frozen. Officers further recovered a sex toy and five CDs that may contain pornographic material, as per the report.

Parthasarathy, who had been absconding for nearly 50 days since the first complaint was filed on August 4, was arrested last week at a hotel in Agra’s Taj Ganj area. During the operation, police seized multiple digital devices, including a phone connected to CCTV cameras monitoring the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management, a private educational institution where he posed as a “Director.”
Investigators allege he preyed on women students at the institute, coercing them into sexual favours first by persuasion and later by threats- including withholding marks. Most of his victims, police said, came from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), a vulnerability the accused exploited, knowing that they or their families were less likely to complain.
This is not the first time Parthasarathy has faced serious allegations. He has been booked before- once in 2009 in a molestation and fraud case for which he was briefly arrested and again in 2016 in a separate matter.
The investigation into the full scope of his alleged crimes, including potential financial fraud and exploitation, is ongoing.
