Former probationary IAS officer Puja Khedkar’s mother, who was granted interim pre-arrest bail in the truck cleaner abduction case, has alleged that she has been slapped with false charges.
In her bail application, Manorama Khedkar claimed that she did not, in fact, have any hand in the abduction of the truck cleaner but “gave him hospitality” when he was brought to her family home in Pune by her husband and his bodyguard.

Denying the charges against her, she alleged that she has been falsely implicated in the case, in which the family’s bodyguard, Praful Salunkhe, was arrested last week.
The woman stated in her bail plea that her husband brought Prahlad Kumar, a helper working in a cement-mixer truck, home only to speak to him about the damage done to the car. She said Prahlad was at their home late into the night and then their driver dropped him at a bus station the next day at 9.30 am.
She stated that she is “a respectable woman” and does not have a conviction record. “I should not be arrested to avoid humiliation. I will not misuse the bail and will follow all the conditions. I was cheated and implicated in this case because there is a dispute regarding my daughter’s UPSC selection,” she stated in her plea.
Manorama had filed the application for pre-arrest or anticipatory bail in the Belapur court, which granted her temporary bail till October 13 as the hearing will continue.
As per the FIR, on October 13, a cement-mixer truck grazed an SUV owned by Puja’s father and Manorama’s husband, Dilip Khedkar, on the Mulund-Airoli road. Following the incident, the helper of the truck was allegedly abducted.
While Dilip allegedly absconded, Manorama was accused of obstructing police officials when they visited the family’s residence in Pune for investigation, and also playing a role in destroying evidence.
