50-year-old Sandro Dias skates down 22-storey building to break two world records – WATCH

Brazilian skateboarding legend Sandro Dias set two Guinness World Records after skating down a 22-storey building in Porto Alegre. Watch the jaw-dropping Red Bull stunt that turned an urban legend into reality.

Brazilian skateboarding legend Sandro Dias has etched his name in record books as he does something that no normal person will ever dare to do. The 50-year-old broke two world records after he dropped from a 22-storey building in Porto Alegre, Brazil, on Thursday, September 25.

The Red Bull athlete skated down a specially built ramp on the side of the Centro Administrativo Fernando Ferrari (CAFF) building from a height of 70m and with a drop of 60m, reaching a speed of 103 km/h. In the process, Dias broke two Guinness World Records – the tallest drop-in on a temporary quarterpipe, and the fastest speed skateboarding on it.

“The most important message I want to share is never give up on your dreams. This is a dream of more than 13 years that we’ve just achieved now, pushing the limits,” Dias said after he achieved the world records. With this stunt, Dias turned an urban legend into reality as people in the city had long wanted to convert the building into a skateboard ramp because of its curved design.

Watch the jaw-dropping stunt

The stunt lasted just eight seconds as Dias reached the bottom at an incredible speed. Guinness World Records officials were present on the site to hand over his certificates immediately after the feat. Watch the jaw-dropping video of Dias almost flying down the side of the building.

Dias had trained for the stunt for nearly ten months since January 2025. His training included G-force conditioning with a 40kg weighted vest and high-speed tests on an airport runway, where he even hit speeds of over 136 km/h. As far as safety is concerned, the Red Bull team thought of everything from air fences to foam cubes, and a full-face helmet and spine protector for Dias.

“I prepared myself a lot for this. It wasn’t easy, and the training was way tougher than this. That’s why I was so confident,” Dias said.

“We know there are many factors that make up this scenario: first, the ramp itself, which had never existed before, with a mix of a lot of speed, a lot of G-force, weather conditions – it was very windy up there. I think I’ve gone high enough already, I’m satisfied, completely satisfied, and I believe this proves that we can push ourselves further,” he added.
