Vijay rally stampede: The horrific incident in Tamil Nadu’s Karur sent shockwaves across India. In the stampede at TVK Chief Vijay’s rally, 41 people died. Amid the pain and chaos, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin shared a video message and urged people to not spread misinformation on social media.

“In the wake of the Karur tragedy, I have seen false news and rumors being spread on social media. This is deeply painful and irresponsible. The people who lost their lives, whatever their political affiliation, are our Tamil brothers and sisters,” Stalin said.

“Political parties and public organizations have a duty to conduct future events with greater responsibility. Once the Judicial Commission submits its report, discussions will be held with all parties and organizations to draft rules and guidelines to prevent such tragedies from recurring,” the statement added.

Earlier, on Sunday, Stalin announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the victims who were killed in the Karur stampede. CM Stalin also announced aid of Rs 1 lakh each to those undergoing medical treatment in hospitals.

The death toll from the Karur stampede rose to 41 on Monday. Among the deceased are 18 women, 13 men, five young girls, and five young boys, bringing the total to 41.

The massive crowd at Vijay’s rally on Saturday evening reportedly turned chaotic, triggering panic. As per sources cited by PTI, overcrowding at the venue led to the tragedy.

Meanwhile, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay on Monday held a video conference with senior leaders from his Pattinapakkam penthouse to discuss the aftermaths of Karur stampede.
