A request for non-vegetarian food turned tragic for a brother-sister duo when their mother mercilessly beat them with a chapati roller, resulting in the boy’s death. The shocking incident took place in Maharashtra’s Palghar on Sunday.

The deceased boy has been identified as Chinmay Dhumde, who had asked his mother, Pallavi Dhumde (40), for a chicken dish. Infuriated, she beat him to death with the roller. She then assaulted her 10-year-old daughter with the same object, leaving the girl in need of medical attention at a local hospital.

Subsequently, the accused mother was taken into custody. According to District Superintendent of Police Yatish Deshmukh, Pallavi lived with her family in a flat in the Kashipada area.

“Pallavi Ghumde, 40, lived with her family in a flat in the Kashipada area. Her son, Chinmay Ganesh Ghumde, 7, was brutally beaten with household items and died as a result of the beating. Her 10-year-old daughter was also beaten. A murder case has been registered at the Palghar police station. The Palghar police are conducting further investigations,” SP Deshmukh told NDTV.

Police have registered a murder case against the accused woman. An investigation into the matter is underway.

In a separate incident on Friday, a 15-year-old boy was killed at a wedding feast in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj after he stood up for his grandfather, who was being humiliated for requesting a chicken leg piece, TOI reported.

According to police, the victim’s grandfather was mocked for his request by the accused and his four brothers. The situation escalated, and the accused attacked the boy, dragging him outside the tent and striking him with bricks on the chest and back.

The boy was rushed to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, the accused fled the scene. An investigation was launched into the matter.
