A classic that changed cinema

Released in 2001, ‘Chandni Bar’ was a hard-hitting portrayal of Mumbai’s underbelly, exposing the realities of bar dancers, crime, and survival in a city of contradictions. Headlined by Tabu and Atul Kulkarni, the film not only won multiple National Awards, but also earned much love from the audiences for her raw performance as Mumtaz who is a naive young rural woman . With this sequel, I want to confront those truths again, telling a story that resonates with today’s generation,” said the producer during the sequel announcement via social media. Director Ajay Bahl, known for his unconventional storytelling in ‘Section 375’ and ‘BA Pass’, said during the announcement that the original film was landmark filmmaking, they want the sequel to carry forward that same intensity.

A new-age Chandni Bar
