Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Friday announced that seven tourist spots, closed as a precaution after the Pahalgam terror attack in April 22, will reopen from Monday (September 29).

The decision comes after a thorough security review conducted during the Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting held earlier today at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said, “After a thorough security review and discussion in today’s UHQ Meeting, I’ve ordered reopening of more tourist spots in Kashmir and Jammu Divisions, which were temporarily closed as precautionary measures.”

The seven sites reopening in Kashmir Division include Aru Valley, Rafting Point Yanner, Akkad Park, Padshahi Park, and Kaman Post. Additionally, five locations in Jammu Division will open their doors: Dagan Top, Ramban, Dhaggar in Kathua, Shiv Cave in Salal, and Reasi.

The UHQ meeting was attended by top military and police officials, including Northern Army Commander Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, and commanders of multiple army corps. Senior officials from the Armed Forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), intelligence agencies, and civil administration were also present.

During the meeting, Sinha praised the security forces, J&K Police, and intelligence agencies for their recent successful anti-terror operations across the Union Territory.

“War against terrorism is not over yet. Kinetic and non-Kinetic operations must continue. We must maintain the momentum and take stringent action against terrorism and its entire ecosystem,” he said, emphasising the need for a ‘Whole of Government Approach’ to tackle radicalisation and the drug menace.

Sinha further directed the security apparatus to continuously improve and proactively adapt to evolving threats to ensure peace and safety for residents and visitors alike.
