A man’s greed for property landed him in trouble after he forged his mother’s death certificate. To claim his share, he created fake court orders and cremation receipts to obtain a fraudulent certificate. However, the city corporation’s vigilance team uncovered the scheme, and following a police complaint, the accused has been arrested.

The man, identified as Harekrsihna Parmar, was taken into custody near Gayakwad Haveli. He had forged the death certificate to claim a share in his late mother’s multi-crore property.

The vigilance team had been investigating private individuals producing fake birth and death certificates after several suspicious cases surfaced. During this probe, Parmar’s actions came to light. The team found that two death certificates were issued in his mother’s name, raising immediate suspicion.

Parmar’s mother passed away in 1988, with her death officially registered at VS Hospital under the name Nandaben Mangaldas Parmar. In 2024, while trying to secure his share of the property, Harekrsihna allegedly collaborated with another person to produce forged documents, resulting in a fake death certificate issued under the name Gangaben Mangaldas Parmar.

Although his mother had died in 1988, the fraudulent certificate listed the death year as 2012. The vigilance team noted discrepancies during an audit, which confirmed that two certificates were issued for the same person.

The police are now investigating how much Harekrsihna paid for the fake documents and whether they were used elsewhere. Authorities have also begun questioning the individual who allegedly helped him create the false certificate.
