18-Year-Old Woman Dies By Suicide, Day After Lover’s Murder In UP’s Saharanpur

Woman’s lover was killed on Friday and his family had blamed her relatives for murder. Police also detained her two minor brothers for interrogation.

An 18-year-old woman allegedly killed herself after her lover was murdered in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur. As per the police, the woman allegedly consumed poison.

Ankita, a resident of the Chilkana area of the district, was found dead at her home on Saturday with an empty packet of pesticide nearby, Additional Superintendent of Police (Dehat) Sagar Jain told PTI.

Woman’s lover, 22-year-old Mahil, was killed on Friday and his family had blamed Ankita’s relatives for murder. They also staged a protest demanding immediate action.

Police had detained Ankita’s two minor brothers for questioning, Jain said.

The woman’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway, officials said.

Jharkhand Woman Stabs Boyfriend to Death

In another case, reported from Jharkhand, a 24-year-old woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death after a fight over their marriage in Chatra district.

As per the police, 34-year-old Md Muntajir, a native of Sasang village in Latehar district, had come to meet his girlfriend Shabbu Praveen alias Noorjahan in Lamta village in Chatra’s Lawalong police station area on Thursday evening.

However, the meeting didn’t go well and a fight erupted between Noorjahan and Muntajir over their marriage, during which Noorjahan stabbed Muntajir. He was immediately taken to Chatra Sadar Hospital for treatment and then referred to RIMS-Ranchi. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries, according to the police.

Noorjahan was arrested, and the knife used in the attack was seized.

“Before his death, the victim provided a statement, based on which an FIR was lodged. The accused was sent to judicial custody by a court on Friday,” Lawalong police station’s in-charge Prashant Mishra told PTI.
