‘GST Savings Festival’: BJP MPs To Campaign For New Tax Regime At Markets, Shops From Tomorrow

The BJP will observe a seven-day long ‘GST Savings Festival’ from September 22, with the party leadership asking all its MPs to visit their constituencies and create a festive atmosphere.

The new GST rates are being implemented from Tuesday. Each BJP MP and its party workers, will conduct a padyatra (foot march) at one marketplace daily in the morning and evening till September 29.

The MPs will visit every shop, meet shopkeepers, and present them with flowers. All MPs will get placards made with the slogan, ‘Say with pride, this is swadeshi’ and distribute them to shopkeepers, who will display them in their shops. They will also extend greetings to shopkeepers for the upcoming festivals and inform them about the GST benefits and encourage them to pass these benefits on to common citizens.

Alongside the festival, a ‘Swadeshi Campaign” will also be run. Under this, padyatras/public outreach will be carried out with banners displaying the slogan: ‘Say with pride, this is swadeshi’.

These placards will have a uniform design across the country, only the language will be regional. The BJP MPs have been asked to plan their visits and send the information and reports to the state office and central central offices.

“Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, the historic GST reforms have simplified the nation’s tax system and made it more people-friendly. These reforms will reduce the tax burden on businesses, while consumers will get goods and services at more affordable rates than before. At the same time, the national economy will also gain new strength and momentum, marking a significant step in the direction of building a developed India. To spread this historic initiative to every citizen, under the guidance of our National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda ji, a seven-day campaign called ‘GST Savings Festival’ will be conducted from 22nd to 29th September. The objective of this campaign is to create a festive atmosphere and to spread the benefits of GST to every section of society,” stated a letter sent by the BJP leadership to all MPs.
