Navratri skincare is not just about looking good; it’s about caring for yourself

With Navratri around the corner, outfits and jewellery may be ready, but your skin also needs the right preparation. Dr Rozy Badyal, Consultant Dermatologist, Kaya Limited, shares her expert guide for glowing, healthy skin that lasts through nine nights of garba, fasting, and festive stress.

Cleansing Is the First Step to Fresh Skin

“As dermatologists, we emphasize cleansing as the foundation of glowing skin,” explains Dr. Badyal. Instead of random home remedies, choose a gentle, pH-balanced cleanser. Cleansers with glycolic acid or salicylic acid help remove dirt, oil, and dead skin cells effectively without over-drying. This step ensures the skin is clear and prepped for actives and hydration.

Toning to Balance the Skin

Dermatologists recommend toners with niacinamide, rose water, or ceramide-infused mists that hydrate, soothe, and restore pH balance. “Unlike kitchen toners like vinegar or lemon water, clinically formulated toners are controlled, safe, and effective,” says Dr. Badyal. They instantly refresh tired skin and minimize the appearance of pores, ideal before applying festive makeup.

Moisturize with Care

A good moisturizer is your skin’s protective shield. Dr. Badyal advises using formulations rich in ceramides or hyaluronic acid to lock in hydration. “The skin barrier takes a hit with late nights and makeup; moisturizers restore balance and prevent dryness,” she explains. For oily skin, lightweight gels work best, while richer creams suit dry skin.

Facials That Work – Medi-Facials

“Medi-facials are different from regular facials because they use dermatologically approved actives and technologies,” highlights Dr. Badyal. Treatments with Vitamin C, peptides, or botanical stem cells can brighten, hydrate, and rejuvenate instantly, without the risks of bleach-based facials. Done 4–5 days before Navratri, they give a long-lasting glow while being safe for sensitive skin.

Sunscreen Is Non-Negotiable

Dr. Badyal stresses that sunscreen is essential, even during festive nights and daytime pandal visits. A broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30+ protects against tanning, pigmentation, and premature ageing. “Sunscreen preserves the glow you’ve worked for and is your daily armour,” she notes.

Skincare as Self-Care During Navratri

“Navratri skincare is not just about looking good; it’s about caring for yourself,” concludes Dr. Badyal. Safe, consistent rituals with the right actives bring balance and confidence. Just as we decorate our homes during the festival, nurturing your skin is a way to celebrate yourself. After all, glowing skin is the best accessory for every garba night.
