According to social media claims, the injured lawyer was identified as Sub-Inspector Mithlesh Prajapati and was being treated at a hospital following the assault.
Reports also suggested a First Information Report (FIR) was filed against 10 unknown persons and 50 lawyers.
(News18 could not independently verify the authenticity of the video).
A report with India Today claimed that the cop was posted at the Baragaon Police Station, and that he was held hostage at the court until other police officers intervened and rescued him.
The dispute between the lawyers stemmed from a land dispute, the report claimed.
A few days earlier, Prajapati had filed challans under Section 151 against both parties, including one lawyer, who accused the officer of misbehaviour and assault. The report quoted the police as saying that the group of lawyers had been lying in wait in court for retaliation.
In his complaint, Prajapati alleged that the lawyers formed a gang to obstruct government work. He claimed they came armed and beat him unconscious with the intent to kill, before dumping him in a drain, the report claimed.
Prajapati was also allegedly robbed of his police identity card, other documents, and Rs 4,200 in cash.
A case was registered, and further investigation was underway.
