A family in East Champaran district of Bihar witnessed what they call nothing less than a miracle. Sixteen years after they performed the last rites of their family member, Nagina Sahni, a resident of Mehva village in Sugauli block, the man has returned home alive.

Sahni had gone missing in 2009 after embarking on the Gangasagar pilgrimage. Despite frantic searches, no trace of him was found. Gradually, his family and fellow villagers concluded that he had died during the journey. His funeral was performed and his absence became a painful reality for his loved ones.

The twist came recently through social media. A video from an old age home in Gujarat reached Sahni’s son, Rudal, showing an elderly man whose appearance bore a striking resemblance to his father. Suspicion soon turned into certainty, the man in the footage was indeed Nagina Sahni.

Rudal, despite severe financial limitations, made the journey to Gujarat. The reunion at the ashram was deeply emotional, with father and son embracing after more than a decade and a half. Witnesses described the moment as overwhelming. “We could not even imagine that we would get to see our father again. We had already performed his shraddha. But God showed us this miracle and we got our father’s shadow again,” Rudal said, his voice breaking.

News of Sahni’s return spread quickly through Mehva. The villagers who once carried his coffin now rushed to welcome him home. Many described the incident as divine grace, while others saw it as testimony to the unexpected power of social media.
