This is the fourth time in the last three months that the Gujarat High Court has received such a threat.
Earlier, on June 9 the High Court received an email warning of an IED blast. Following this, Sola Police registered an FIR and the cyber cell began tracing the origin of the email. The threat later turned out to be a hoax.
On June 24, another threat email came from an ID under the name Rene Joshilda. Investigation revealed it was sent by a woman from Chennai, who was later arrested. She admitted to sending the threats for personal reasons.
The third threat was received on August 20. Police conducted intensive searches of the court premises but found nothing suspicious.
Meanwhile, similar hoax threats were received by the Bombay and Delhi High Courts last week.
The threat letter to the Delhi High Court mentioned that three explosives had been planted in the judge’s room and at other locations on the premises, and warned that the evacuations should be completed by 2 pm.
The letter also mentioned “links with the Pakistan ISI cells” and stated that “the judge’s chamber will detonate shortly after mid-day Islamic prayers.”
Bomb disposal squads, sniffer dogs, and emergency services rushed to the scene, but after a thorough search, Delhi Police confirmed it was a false alarm.
Soon after the Delhi alert, Bombay High Court officials reported receiving a similar threat. The court premises were cleared as a precaution, and searches were conducted by the bomb detection unit. Though the content of the Bombay email has not been made public, Mumbai Police believe both threats are linked, given the timing and similar patterns.
