Maruti Suzuki’ on Monday announced that its newly launched Victoris has secured a five-star safety rating for both adult and child occupant protection under Global NCAP’s latest protocols, becoming the carmaker’s second model after the Dzire to achieve the top score.

The model was voluntarily tested and is equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC) and pedestrian protection as standard. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are offered as optional features.

Richard Woods, Chief Executive Officer of Global NCAP, said: “The five-star Victoris clearly demonstrates Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to improved safety for its new models. It continues the trend set by the Dzire launched last year which also achieved five stars. We warmly welcome Maruti Suzuki’s engagement with the requirements of Global NCAP’s new protocols. The result is a significant vehicle safety victory for motoring consumers in India.”

Crash test assessments showed:

  • Adult protection: All body regions recorded adequate to good protection in frontal, side, and pole impact tests. The structure and footwell area were rated as stable and capable of withstanding further loadings.
  • Child protection: Both 18-month-old and three-year-old child dummies recorded full protection when placed in rearward-facing child seats with ISOFIX anchorages and a support leg. Side impact tests also showed complete safety.
  • Safety features: The Victoris comes with three-point seatbelts in all seating positions, i-Size anchorages as standard, and meets Global NCAP’s requirements for seatbelt reminders, ESC, and pedestrian protection (UN127).

With the five-star rating, the Victoris joins a small group of cars in India to achieve top crash-test scores for both adults and children.
