Mercedes-Benz India on Tuesday reported its highest-ever sales of 9,768 units during January-June (H1) 2026, up 9 per cent from 9,013 units in the corresponding period last year. The luxury carmaker also recorded its best-ever second-quarter performance, with retail sales rising 10 per cent year-on-year to 4,637 units.
According to the official press release, the growth was driven by sustained demand for the company’s top-end luxury models and new product launches, including the CLA BEV and the new V-Class, alongside steady demand for its core portfolio.
The automaker said sales of its Top-End Luxury (TEL) portfolio — which includes the Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-AMG, S-Class, EQS SUV and V-Class — grew by more than 20 per cent during the first half of the year. The segment accounted for 28 per cent of the company’s total sales, the highest share recorded so far.
Mercedes-AMG continued its strong growth trajectory, with sales rising 50 per cent during the January-June period, reflecting increasing demand for high-performance luxury vehicles.
The company also said battery electric vehicles accounted for 14 per cent of its total sales mix in the second quarter, led by strong demand for the newly launched CLA BEV and the EQS SUV. Within the top-end luxury portfolio, BEVs contributed 25 per cent of sales during the first half.
The Entry Luxury segment registered 30 per cent growth in the second quarter, driven by the launch of the CLA BEV and sustained demand for the GLA SUV. Meanwhile, the Long Wheelbase E-Class remained the company’s highest-selling model in India.
“The new V-Class and CLA BEV drove our best-ever H1 and Q2 sales, underpinning superior product substance and reaffirming Mercedes customers’ preference for value over entry price points,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India.
Iyer said that the strong response to the CLA BEV has pushed Mercedes-Benz’s BEV penetration to 14 per cent of total sales in the second quarter, with customers willing to wait up to six months for deliveries.
Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz India plans to expand its retail footprint by opening more than 20 luxury outlets across the country.
The company will inaugurate five new dealerships in the third quarter, including its first outlet in Varanasi, while strengthening its presence in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi NCR and Hyderabad. The expansion will be backed by an investment of over ₹450 crore by franchise partners over the next two years.
