Barry Manilow, a veteran musician who was set to appear on stage, has cancelled his recent concert appearances. He was all set to appear on stage for his August concert in Lexington; however, according to the latest updates, he has completely backed down from performing. Manilow took to social media to share more details about the decision.
Barry Manilow announced cancellation of upcoming tour dates
The beloved musician recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the shocking update with his fans. He wrote, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, tonight’s show in Lexington has been rescheduled.” At the time of writing this article, no other updates about why the show was cancelled or whether it will be rescheduled have been revealed.He was earlier meant to perform at Rupp Arena in Lexington in March. However, he had to undergo treatment for lung cancer. LEX News reported that the March concert was cancelled and postponed due to the musician’s ongoing treatment.
Barry Manilow’s cancer journey
For the unversed, Manilow has been quite open about his journey with cancer and its complications. He shared while talking to PEOPLE that “You just don’t even think about [how fragile life is], and suddenly, you have lung cancer. But I’m still here. I’m not all here; there’s part of me that isn’t here – they took out a part of me, and now I’ve got to figure out, ‘What do I do?’”During the interview, he also revealed that he was suffering from other health issues and had gone for a check-up. However, after undergoing MRI tests, doctors revealed that he also had lung cancer. He shared more details about the time and revealed, “If he hadn’t done that, man … He saved my life, because there were no symptoms for what I had. I could go on, nothing hurt — but they found the dot in my lungs. They called me and said, ‘Could be cancer.’ That’s a bad word. ‘Not me. F— you. I can’t have cancer.’”His diagnosis, according to him, put a lot of things in his life into perspective. He added, “This made me stop and think about: Have I done what I wanted to do, and have I made people happy? Have I been a good friend? All of those cornball things that I’ve read for all of my life, I started to think about that, too. It really did stop me in my tracks.”On the work front, Manilow only recently released his 33rd studio album, titled ‘What A Time’, on June 5. The lead single, ‘Once Before I Go’, became a top 10 hit in March ahead of the album’s release and was a big hit amongst the masses.As of right now, there have been no comments about whether the musician will be returning to the stage anytime soon.
