The blogger had been on a live stream when he allegedly appeared to self-harm. This prompted many viewers to call authorities to his home in Florida for a wellness check. PEOPLE reported that the police promptly responded to the calls and reached his home in time. Several deputies from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene and found Hilton alone in his home.A statement from the authorities read, “In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritise de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication.” They further shared, “Unless there is an immediate threat to others, slowing the situation and utilising crisis intervention techniques can reduce the likelihood of a suicide-by-cop encounter and minimise the risk of injury to the individual, deputies, and the public. ”Following this, he was taken to a nearby hospital for medical assistance, while the Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental health professionals were present at the scene to help him, as well as his family.
