Arsenal legend Tony Adams sells his £4 million, five-acre Cotswolds mansion to Liam Gallagher after 23 years to support wife’s return to university

Arsenal legend Tony Adams has sold his luxurious £4 million Cotswolds mansion to Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, with the football icon revealing that the move marks the beginning of a “new era” for his family as his wife returns to university. The former England defender, 59, sold the sprawling countryside estate in December 2025 after initially putting it on the market earlier that year. According to The Sun, Adams and his wife, Poppy Teacher, decided to leave the property and move back to London to support her academic ambitions.

‘A new era for us’

Speaking about the decision, Adams said, “This is a new era for us. We’ve sold the house and are returning to London. My wife is going back to school.”Poppy, meanwhile, revealed that she is pursuing a master’s degree in early modern history, admitting that her husband was initially puzzled by her choice.”I told Tony I wanted to do early modern history and he said, ‘How do you monetise that?’ and I said, ‘You don’t!'”She added that although Adams jokingly tells people she is pursuing a PhD, she is actually enrolled in a master’s programme.”But I think he’s proud. He’s telling everyone I’m doing a PhD, but it’s a masters.” Explaining her decision, she said, “I’ve brought up the children, but now I need to use my brain again. Tony and I want to have a London life, do things like go to galleries.”

A countryside retreat

The luxury property, located near Cirencester in the Cotswolds, sits on around five acres and features a swimming pool, tennis courts, stables and a separate two-bedroom cottage.Adams had owned the estate since 2002, when he reportedly bought it for around half of its eventual asking price.

Liam Gallagher settles into country life

The mansion’s new owner, Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, appears to be settling into his countryside lifestyle.Speaking about his new neighbourhood, Gallagher joked that his neighbours have made him feel especially welcome.”They’re absolutely incredible, they have not stopped baking me cakes and scones.” Go to Source
