Hyundai Motor India on Thursday approved the appointment of Mukundan MS as Whole-time Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer (CMO), effective September 1, 2026, subject to shareholders’ approval at the company’s upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The board also approved the appointment of Young Geon Kim as Senior Management Personnel with effect from August 1, 2026.

The leadership changes follow the superannuation of Gopalakrishnan CS, whose tenure as Whole-time Director and Chief Manufacturing Officer will conclude at the close of business hours on August 31, 2026.

Mukundan, who currently serves as Function Head, Production (CMO Office), brings more than 25 years of experience in production and manufacturing support.

The company said he has led key initiatives including production capacity expansion, flexible SUV manufacturing, AI-driven quality improvements, carbon neutrality and renewable energy projects, as well as preparations for mixed internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) production.

Young Geon Kim has over three decades of experience in automotive manufacturing, production technology, plant operations and engineering. Since joining Hyundai Motor India in 2025, he has overseen initiatives related to production management, Genesis production readiness, Chennai plant integration and new manufacturing facility development, the company said.
