Twitch streamer NateDeBaiits heartbroken after fatal California birthday party shooting claims friend's life

A birthday party for Twitch streamer NateDeBaiits ended in tragedy after a shooting broke out in California, leaving one person dead and six others injured. The party, attended by more than 300 people, was being livestreamed when gunfire suddenly erupted, sending guests running for safety. The person who died was later identified as Desiderio Romero V, a close friend and former classmate of the streamer. After the incident, NateDeBaiits shared an emotional message, saying he was “truly heartbroken” over the loss.

The shooting happened on the night of July 25 in an open field near Morgan Hill, California, where NateDeBaiits was celebrating his birthday. According to the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were first called to the area after reports of intoxicated people in the street and bottles being thrown at passing cars. When officers arrived, they found hundreds of people running away from the party. Seven adults had been shot. One person died at the scene, while six others were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.The man who lost his life was later identified by his family as Desiderio Romero V, also known as Desi or Pepper. NateDeBaiits later revealed that Romero had been his classmate and friend.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, the streamer said, “My deepest condolences to his family and everyone who loved him. This doesn’t even feel real. He was my classmate and my friend, and I am truly heartbroken.”He also said that he never wanted anything like this to happen and that the situation was beyond his control. Reports from ABC7 said the streamer has received death threats after the shooting and now plans to move away from San Jose.

Police investigate deadly California birthday party shooting as no arrests have been made

Police believe the shooting happened after a fight reportedly broke out between two groups at the party. One guest told ABC that security checked people before they entered, but the argument later turned violent.The witness said they saw a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound while other guests tried to help by using T-shirts as bandages and applying pressure to stop the bleeding. They also said the area was very dark, making it difficult to see clearly or identify anyone.The Sheriff’s Office described the event as an unsanctioned party, adding that the owner of the field did not know it was taking place. Investigators believe a handgun was used and have called the shooting an isolated incident.As of July 27, no arrests had been made. Detectives are reviewing videos from the party and asking anyone with photos or footage to come forward to help identify the shooter or shooters and find out what led to the violence.A GoFundMe campaign created to help pay for Desi Romero’s funeral has raised more than $20,000.The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities hope that more witness videos and information will help them identify those responsible.
