Dhanush family tree: From father Kasthuri Raja and brother Selvaraghavan to Rajinikanth connection

Tamil star Dhanush is currently basking in celebrations as he received the National Award for his performance in the action thriller movie, ‘Raayan’. The Tamil superstar is one of the biggest stars in the country who has diversified his portfolio as an actor, director, producer and a singer. Dhanush who himself comes from a film background let’s take a look at the filmy family tree of the ‘Kara’ star.The actor before taking his stage name Dhanush is known by Venkatesh Prabhu as his birth name. Born in a family which has strong roots in the Tamil film industry he knew about filmmaking from a young age and made his debut with a young face in 2002 film ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’ which is a coming-of-age teen drama film which is directed by father Kasthuri Raja and written by his brother Selvaraghavan.

Siblings of Dhanush

Dhanush has three siblings. His elder brother, Selvaraghavan, is one of the most respected directors and screenwriters in Tamil cinema. He has played a key role in Dhanush’s acting career. His two sisters, Dr. Karthika Devi and Dr. K. Vimala Geetha, chose a different path and became a doctor instead of joining the film industry.

Dhanush’s marriage to Aishwarya Rajinikanth

Later in 2004, Dhanush got married to Aishwarya Rajinikanth, who is the elder daughter of Tamil cinema legendary actor Rajinikanth and Latha Rajinikanth. Their marriage brought two of the most prominent Tamil cinema families together. However, after 18 years into their marriage, Dhanush and Aishwarya announced their separation in 2022.

Dhanush’s children and the next generation

The former couple has two sons, Yatra Raja, who was born in 2006, and Linga Raja, who was born in 2010. Despite their separation, Dhanush and Aishwarya continue to co-parent their children.Speaking of his future generation, Dhanush’s elder son, Yatra, has already debuted as a lyricist in the Dhanush directorial romance comedy film, ‘Nilavuku En Mel Ennadi Kobam (NEEK)’. He penned the hook and four lines for the song ‘Golden Sparrow’. He is also expected to be making his acting debut.
