The resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the Narendra Modi government has handed the additional charge of the Ministry of Education to Prahlad Joshi, who continues to oversee the Consumer Affairs Ministry. Rashtrapati Bhavan confirmed that President Droupadi Murmu accepted Pradhan’s resignation on the recommendation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and approved Joshi’s appointment. Thanking the Prime Minister, Joshi said he would carry out his new responsibilities with humility, honesty, and dedication. Meanwhile, after more than a month of protests, the government accepted the key demands of CJP and the protesting students, leading to the end of the agitation at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Protesters dispersed, while the NDMC removed barricades, dismantled the protest stage, cleared accumulated waste, and restored the site. Police personnel deployed during the demonstrations also withdrew. In Parliament, Union Minister Jitendra Singh is set to introduce an amended anti-paper leak bill. The proposed legislation prescribes five to ten years’ imprisonment for paper leaks and unfair examination practices, while organized offences could attract a minimum seven-year jail term and fines of up to ₹10 crore.
