Tanishaa on rumours of pre-nuptial causing break-up with Uday

Tanishaa Mukerji reacts to rumours of pre-nuptial agreement which led to break-up with Uday Chopra: 'I can't believe.....'

Tanishaa Mukerji was in a relationship with Uday Chopra. The duo worked together on ‘Neil and Nikki’ and that’s when they started dating, however, in a recent interview, Tanishaa has said that she knew Uday much before that. Rumours have been rife on the internet that they were supposed to get married but it did not work out because she wanted a pre-nuptial agreement before she married Uday. However, now in an interview she called these rumours ‘rubbish’. She told Vickey Lalwani, when asked about their relationship, “Main Uday ko bachpan se jaanti thi and during the course of the film, we did start a relationship.” When further probed about what made them break-up, as people were invested in their relationship, she quipped, “Audiences will get invested in any relationship that gets highlighted by the media. The audience views the relationship depending on the hype created by the media. Suddenly if the paps are posting, ‘Beautiful couple’, the audience will also believe so. But they don’t know what’s happening inside a relationship or behind closed doors is between that couple.” When probed further if they separated due to a pre-nuptial agreement, she said, “No no. That’s rubbish. I can’t believe you’re asking me this question. I respect Uday and his family too much to comment on any of this. Anyone who respects them would know that this is all rubbish. Overall, we had a great relationship but relationships fail.” She revealed she’s not in touch with Uday. “I find it difficult to stay in touch with my ex-boyfriends,” she said. Thus, when further questioned then if she would greet him if she bumps into him at an event or party, she said, “Constant calling and all is not happening. But if I bump into him somewhere, of course, I will go and greet him, give him a huge. That’s normal. We are normal people.” The actress was then asked about he failure of ‘Neil and Nikki’ and how the film was severely criticised. She said, “I never think of ‘Neil and Nikki’ as a mistake. Aaj log mujhe pehcnaante hai because of that film. I transformed myself for the film, I stood out on screen. I made the character mine. That’s the most any actor can wish for, that nobody can imagine someone else as Nikki but you.” When questioned about the criticism, she said, “I did not write dialogues, or handle the camera. I played my character to the tee. I did everything asked of me and beyond. As an actor, that’s all I can control. You can’t control the director, the producer, or the audience even or the outcome of the film. But you give your 100 percent to it.
