Karisma Kapoor's children have demanded an equal share of Sunjay Kapur's Rs 30,000 crore estate.

Karisma Kapoor’s children have demanded an equal share of Sunjay Kapur’s Rs 30,000 crore estate.

A bitter legal dispute has broken out in the Delhi High Court over the estate of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar, whose wealth is estimated at nearly Rs 30,000 crore. The controversy has taken a dramatic turn with Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor’s children Samaira and Kiaan, moving the court to demand an equal share in their father’s assets.

The case, however, is fraught with complexities. The children have accused their stepmother, Priya Kapur, of attempting to usurp the entire property by “manipulating” the will. The allegations, now part of the official court proceedings, have cast a shadow over what was once considered a tightly held family matter.

Legal experts suggest the challenge may not be straightforward. Advocate Shisba Chawla explained to Local 18, “The will itself is considered a strong legal document. The person challenging it has to prove that the signatures are fake, the paper has been made fraudulently or the role of the witnesses is suspicious. Without solid evidence, it is almost impossible to declare the will as fake in the court.”

Chawla further added that Karisma Kapoor’s primary concern is to safeguard her children’s future, insisting that they deserve fair treatment. The children themselves have maintained that their father used to confide in them on all major matters, and had he indeed drafted a will, he would have informed them.

Dispute Over Sunjay Kapur’s Will

According to court filings, Sunjay Kapur passed away in June 2025, leaving behind his third wife, Priya Kapur, and their son. His earlier marriage with Karisma Kapoor produced two children, Samaira and Kiaan, who are now questioning the authenticity of the will.

The petition alleges that Priya Kapur, along with her associates Dinesh Agarwal and Nitin Sharma, concealed the will for nearly seven weeks after Sunjay’s death. It was finally presented during a family meeting on July 30, 2025. The children argue that the document, dated March 21, 2025, is fraudulent, pointing out that they were neither shown the original copy nor provided any authenticated version.

Initially, Priya Kapur is said to have claimed that no will existed, asserting instead that Sunjay Kapur’s assets were controlled by the RK Family Trust. The sudden production of a will later raised suspicions within the family, strengthening the children’s charge of foul play.

Court’s Next Move

As the matter now rests with the Delhi High Court, legal experts note that the eventual decision will depend on the strength of the evidence placed before the bench. With a fortune of this magnitude at stake, the case is expected to remain in the public eye.
