Political Flash: Rahul Gandhi Targets Government Over Student Protests and Paper Leaks

The political confrontation over the NEET paper leak and student protests continued to disrupt Parliament for the third consecutive day. The government maintained that it is ready to discuss the issue, but the opposition insisted that Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan must resign before any debate begins. Opposition leaders, dressed in black, staged protests outside Parliament before entering the House, where fresh disruptions led to another washout. Congress also demanded that the discussion be held under Rajya Sabha Rule 267, which allows immediate debate on matters of urgent national importance, but the Chairman rejected the request and approved discussion under regular procedures. Rahul Gandhi later held a press conference, presenting videos of alleged police action against protesting students and claiming that 152 paper leaks had occurred over the past decade without accountability. He demanded the resignation of the Education Minister, action against those responsible for violence against students, and an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The BJP accused the opposition of politicising students’ concerns instead of participating in parliamentary debate, while the stalemate continued.
