Delhi authorities have temporarily closed entry and exit at 16 Metro stations due to ongoing protests and heightened security concerns across the city. According to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), the restrictions came into effect at 7:30 a.m. and will remain in place until further orders. While passengers cannot enter or exit at these stations, interchange services will continue at key hubs such as Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat, allowing commuters to switch Metro lines. A ground report from Mandi House Metro Station showed Delhi Police personnel deployed outside to inform passengers about the closures and maintain law and order. Officials stated that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure in view of the prevailing situation in New Delhi and to ensure public safety. Commuters arriving at the affected stations are being redirected and advised to use alternative routes. Authorities have emphasized that the restrictions are temporary and will be reviewed based on the security situation. The precautionary closure follows unrest and disturbances linked to demonstrations in the national capital.
